Add another law firm to the list of those that are canceling festivities because of the difficult economy.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Levenfeld Pearlstein had planned to send employees and their spouses to a resort in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in February. But the $500,000 party for the 250 or so attendees is off, reports Crain’s Chicago Business.

The Chicago-based law firm, which is particularly known for its corporate and real estate work, is cutting costs as it faces a potential profit decline, according to Bryan Schwartz, a founding partner.

“It would have put a strain on us,” Schwartz says of the Florida vacation. “Everything’s on the table because of the uncertainty.”
