New Turmoil at Ave Maria
In the latest turmoil at Ave Maria School of Law, the alumni board of directors of the Michigan institution has issued a vote of no confidence in the school’s top leaders.
It called—for the second time—for the ouster of the dean and board chairman of the Catholic law school, reports the Detroit News. Although Ave Maria is planning a move to Florida, which has incited controversy, faculty autonomy is also a major issue, as discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post.
By alienating alumni, the Ave Maria administration has “turned the greatest advocates for the law school to their greatest adversaries,” says Justin Berger. A 2003 graduate of the law school, he is a member of the alumni board.
