New Merger Model? Irish Firms Do 3-Way
Three law firms in Dublin, Ireland, have announced a simultaneous merger into a midsize law partnership incorporating all three names.
Sherwin O’Riordan (SOR), Mullany Solicitors and Brendan Walsh & Partners will now be known as SOR Mullany Walsh Solicitors, reports the Irish Times. The firm will handle business and litigation matters, as well as private client services.
The combined firm lists 10 partners on its website.
James Sherwin, who will serve as managing partner, says the marriage of complementary practices will give the merged firm a greater depth of expertise and make it more competitive. “The market is not great,” he tells the newspaper. “Therefore, a consolidation like this is ahead of its times in many respects in that we’re consolidating our practices and making sure that our clients get a better service.”
Sherwin and Conor Mullany will head the new firm’s corporate and commercial practice group; David O’Riordan will be in charge of its litigation and employment practice; and Cara Walsh will oversee private client services.
