A North Carolina judge has been reprimanded for failing to issue a written judgment nearly four years after holding a bench trial.

Judge Henry Frye Jr. of Guilford County finally issued the judgment a week after receiving the reprimand from the Judicial Standards Commission, the News-Record of Greensboro reports. The article says Frye “is known in legal circles for sometimes being long-winded and dramatic in court” but he has never been disciplined. He is the son of a former chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Frye didn’t comment for the publication on why it took him so long. “I’d obviously like to apologize to everyone involved, to my family and my church and everyone,” he said. “But the order was completed, and that is really all.”
