Northwestern University law school sees a connection between 1L Armand Musey’s mountain-climbing exploits and its first group of students entering its new two-year J.D. program.

Musey, who worked on Wall Street for 10 years in telecom and finance, climbed Mount Everest last May, joining the few people who have climbed the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven continents, according to a press release.

Twenty-seven students are in the accelerated program, and all of them “have scaled great heights, in one way or another,” the press release says. Other students include Elana Dawson, who has toured with the National Theater of the Deaf, and Los Alamos National Laboratory research scientist Roshan Shrestha.

Northwestern announced its two year program last spring. It also offers a fast-track program that allows students to combine a law degree with a masters in business administration, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Other schools offering three-year JD/MBA degrees include the University of Pennsylvania and Yale.
