A night of “intensive police operations” has led to the arrests of two more men in the attempted car bombings in London and Glasgow, a police spokesman says.

The arrests took place near Glasgow, where two men rammed a Jeep Cherokee into the entrance of the airport on Saturday, the New York Times says. The newspaper quotes a Daily Telegraph report that the men in the Jeep may also have been directly responsible for the attempted London bombings.

Seven people have been arrested in the plots, thought to be linked to al-Qaida.
