Minority Boutique Partners With Day Pitney

Day Pitney based in Hartford, Conn., and Morristown, N.J., is forming a “strategic alliance” with a minority-owned law firm.

Day Pitney hopes the alliance with Gray Haile, based in Washinton, D.C., will please corporate counsel seeking diversity in the law firms they use the Connecticut Law Tribune reports.

Both firms will share office space in Day Pitney’s Washington, D.C, offices. Gray Haile will bill at Day Pitney of counsel rates when the larger firm enlists its lawyers, but when Gray Haile seeks the help of Day Pitney lawyers, both firms will bill at their own rates, the newspaper says.

Gray Haile, formed in 2006, is a boutique minority-owned transactional law firm, according to a press release (PDF). Day Pitney, created on Jan. 1 through the merger of two East Coast law firms, has a strong corporate practice, with 400 lawyers in nine offices.
