Milberg Makes List of Hot Plaintiffs Firms
The embattled securities law firm Milberg has made it on a legal publication’s list of hot plaintiffs law firms.
The Milberg law firm had been charged with participating in a scheme to pay kickbacks to lead plaintiffs, but the charges were dropped last year when the law firm agreed to pay $75 million. Now the firm has landed on a Plaintiffs’ Hot List put together by the National Law Journal.
Since the indictment, Milberg “has purged its ethically-challenged attorneys and otherwise cleaned up its act,” the National Law Journal reports. “Beyond that, it helped win a $750 million recovery in a case alleging accounting shenanigans by Xerox Corp.”
Other firms on the list are: Barroway Topaz Kessler Meltzer & Check; Berger & Montague; Bernstein Liebhard; Bernstein Litowitz; Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy; Coughlin Stoia; Grant & Eisenhofer; Hagens Berman; Labaton Sucharow; Lieff Cabraser; Phillips & Cohen; Quinn Emanuel; Seeger Weiss; and Woodcock Washburn.
