McCarter & English acquires energy and environmental boutique, now has office in DC
One of New Jersey’s biggest and best-known law firms has planted its flag in the nation’s capital with the acquisition of a Washington, D.C., energy and environmental law boutique.
McCarter & English finalized the merger with Miller Balis & O’Neil on Feb. 1, adding another 14 lawyers to the roster of the over 400-attorney Northeast and Midatlantic regional firm, according to the Bergen Record.
“This is a great move for both firms, but our respective clients are the real beneficiaries here,” said chairman Michael P. Kelly of McCarter & English in a press release. “Each fills a gap in what the other could offer its clients.”
Headquartered in Newark, N.J., McCarter & English has a total of eight offices. In addition to its new D.C. acquisition, the firm also has locations in Boston; Hartford and Stamford, Conn.; New York City; Wilmington, Del.; and Philadelphia.
