Mary-Kate Off the Hook, Ledger Death Probe Dropped
Actress Mary-Kate Olsen won’t have to worry about a federal subpoena now that authorities have decided to drop their pursuit of a criminal case involving how Heath Ledger obtained the painkillers that contributed to his overdose.
Prosecutors are bowing out of the case because they don’t see a viable target, the Associated Press reports.
Mary-Kate Olsen had reportedly been subpoenaed, but was demanding immunity before answering questions. The AP notes that the Drug Enforcement Administration’s subpoena of Olsen is no longer valid because it was contingent upon prosecutors pursuing a case.
Olsen, known for her work in Full House, was a close friend of Ledger’s and reportedly was the first person called by a masseuse who found his dead body in his New York apartment early this year.
