A 25-year-old man accused of breaking into a Washington state courthouse and rummaging through a refrigerator in the county sheriff’s office has pleaded guilty to burglary.
Daniel Hodson was sentenced last week to 15 months in the Snohomish County case, reports the Daily Herald. He was also ordered to get a mental health evaluation.
It was his first felony conviction.
An earlier Daily Herald story provides additional details about the break-in on Sunday, May 24, at the county courthouse. Police said Hodson smashed a glass door with a metal bar, went into a metal cabinet near the door and then took the stairs to the fourth-floor sheriff’s office.
He got in by prying a door open. Several people working in the records division heard glass break, apparently when a soda machine was smashed. When they investigated, Hodson was standing at the refrigerator holding a sandwich and a knife, the newspaper reports.
