Lindsay Lohan Rejects Necklace-Theft Plea Deal Including Jail Time, Is Now Headed for Trial
Actress Lindsay Lohan has rejected a plea deal in a much-publicized necklace-theft case that reportedly would have required her to serve at least a minimal amount of time.
Instead, the actress is now headed toward a Los Angeles Superior Court trial, assuming that sufficient probable cause to proceed is found next month at an April 22 hearing, reports the Associated Press.
If convicted, she could get as much as three years, reports People magazine.
She could also be sentenced to jail time if her conduct concerning the necklace is considered to be a violation of her previous probation in an unrelated driving under the influence case.
However, the 24-year-old actress maintains her innocence and says the $2,500 necklace had been loaned to her before she returned it.
Her lawyer, Shawn Holley, could not be reached for comment, People says.
