Lindsay Lohan to Face Felony Grand Theft Charge re Necklace Taken from Jeweler, Prosecutor Says
Lindsay Lohan will be arraigned tomorrow on a felony grand theft charge for allegedly stealing a gold necklace from a California jeweler last month, a prosecutor says.
Although a representative for the 24-year-old actress reportedly returned the necklace to Los Angeles police as a search warrant was being sought for her home and the actress said she borrowed it with the jeweler’s permission, Los Angeles authorities apparently were not convinced. Deputy District Attorney John Lynch says she be be booked and arraigned tomorrow at Los Angeles Airport Superior Court, reports CNN.
Lohan is already on supervised probation for earlier violations of her probation in a 2007 driving under the influence case and could see her probation revoked. If she is convicted, she could face additional jail time.
Her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has said Lohan will fight the case, but will do so in court rather than the media, reports the L.A. Now blog of the Los Angeles Times.
