The legal services sector added 5,100 jobs in September after a loss of 3,900 jobs in August, according to preliminary and seasonally adjusted figures issued Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics had reported last month that the legal sector lost 4,200 jobs in August, but that figure has been revised downward by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The sector lost 600 jobs in July, which is also a downward revision from the loss of 2,200 jobs initially reported last month, according to the revised figures.
The legal sector had 1,182,700 jobs in September, which is 7,200 more jobs than in September 2022.
The jobs number is based on payroll jobs for attorneys and staff members working at law firms providing legal services. The jobs data can change in recent monthly revisions, as well as the annual look-back process.
