Lawyers Big Democratic Contributors
Lawyers and law firms contributed $27.5 million to presidential candidates since the beginning of the year.
The National Law Journal reports that 66 percent of the total went to three Democratic candidates with legal backgrounds: John Edwards, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Edwards has raised $6.5 million from lawyers so far, Clinton has raised $6.26 million, and Obama has raised $5.47 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
Clinton’s top contributor is DLA Piper, Obama’s is his former firm Sidley Austin, and Edwards’ is Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson of Miami.
