Lawyer Who Leapt From Window After Robbery Arrest Surrenders Law License
An Oklahoma lawyer who leapt from a hospital ledge after he was accused of robbing a drugstore has agreed to resign from legal practice.
The Oklahoma Supreme Court accepted Robert Behlen’s resignation in an April 28 opinion, the Legal Profession Blog reports.
Robert Behlen was accused of taking painkillers in three armed robberies of a pharmacy over an 11-minute period last September. He was taken to a hospital after he tried to stab himself, and then he jumped from the hospital window. He was initially reported in critical condition.
A federal judge ruled in March that Behlen is competent to stand trial for robbery, the Associated Press reported. He was treated for his injuries and is being held in a county jail.
