Lawyer who killed client last year is arrested in shooting outside bar
An Oklahoma City lawyer who shot and killed a client last year was arrested early Friday in a shooting outside a bar.
The client’s death last year was determined to be self-defense and the lawyer, Jay Silvernail, was never charged. Silvernail was arrested in the new incident on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, report the Associated Press, NewsOK, and News9.
When police arrived at the shooting outside Groovy’s bar in Oklahoma City, they found the shooting victim and Silvernail, who was being held at gunpoint by a witness, according to Oklahoma City police. NewsOK says the victim was hospitalized in critical condition, while AP says the man was hospitalized in serious condition.
A woman who was with Silvernail said he was trying to stop an unknown man from taking their friend, who had “probably been drugged,” according to News9.
