A Washington, D.C., patent lawyer has agreed to pay $8,000 to settle a suit claiming he used stock photos on his website without permission.

The copyright infringement suit by Masterfile Corp. claimed lawyer Jerry Joseph used two of the licensing company’s photos showing people dressed in suits, the Blog of Legal Times reports.

The suit had sought up to $150,000 for each instance of willful infringement, the story says.

Joseph had removed the photos from his website soon after Masterfile complained in February 2013, but didn’t respond to the company’s efforts to settle before it filed suit, the complaint had alleged.
