Lawyer Dies at 101, Had Practiced Law Till He Was 97
A lawyer who was the oldest living graduate of the University of Baltimore law school has died at the age of 101.
Jack Mayer Willen practiced law until the age of 97, when his last client died, the Baltimore Sun reports. He had a general practice with a focus on real estate law.
Willen’s son-in-law, Howard Needle, said Willen was not schooled in the latest technology, but “his mind and memory were just remarkable.”
Needle recalled Willen’s estate work for his last client. “The client had a substantial estate, and it took [Willen] six months to type it up on an old typewriter because he was not computer-literate,” Needle told the Baltimore Sun. “However, the 20-page inventory along with numerous mathematical calculations, which he did in his head, was absolutely free of any mistakes.”
