Lawyer Advising Dallas Court Dies of Swine Flu
A 54-year-old lawyer who was advising a Dallas County court in an investigation has died from complications of the H1N1 virus.
Sidney Davis Jr. died from pneumonia brought on by the virus, according to the Associated Press and the Dallas Morning News. Davis’ wife, Linda, and County Judge Jim Foster both confirmed the cause.
His hiring by the Dallas County Commissioners Court in an investigation of two constables had proven controversial. The district attorney had claimed the commissioners did not have authority to hire an outside lawyer, and the investigation could interfere with his own office’s probe, according to a prior article in the Dallas Morning News. Foster and two commissioners, on the other hand, had feared the DA was not serious about investigating the constables, fellow Democrats, the story says.
Davis’ profile at the law firm Touchstone Bernays lists several insurance companies as clients. He was a graduate of the University of Texas law school
