Lawyer Accused in Escape Plot
A Georgia lawyer is accused of giving a 14-inch pruning saw blade to a jailed client.
The indictment charges William Keenan with furnishing a dangerous weapon to an inmate and conspiracy to commit escape, according to the Fulton County Daily Report.
The client, Dareon Varner, was later convicted of armed robbery and aggravated assault. He is now awaiting trial for attempted escape and possession of a weapon by an inmate.
Keenan has been a lawyer for 28 years. His lawyer declined to comment on the charges, but said Keenan had law offices in Atlanta and Albany, Ga.
