Law Professor Surveys Which Schools Generate the Most Partners
Harvard Law School, Georgetown University Law Center and New York University School of Law generate the most partners, according to a recent law review article by Theodore P. Seto. The Loyola Law School in Los Angeles professor’s work also suggests that hiring is “markedly regional.”
Seto’s research surveyed the country’s 250 largest law firms, and went through data from about 50,000 partners, the Wall Street Journal Law Blog reports. Seto ranked the schools based on how many partners they produced in the last 25 years.
According to the Law Blog, Seto’s paper “Where Do Partners Come From?” shows law schools similarly ranked in the annual US News and World Report rankings have varying numbers of partner alums. For instance Georgetown and the University of Texas are both ranked at No. 14 on the 2011 list, but Georgetown produced twice as many law firm partners as UT.
