Law Firm Partners on Hot Seat After Ex-Associate, Former Office Mgr Complain; Was Nanny on Payroll?
Two partners in the Oregon law firm of Gunn Cain & Kinney are on the hot seat after an ex-associate and former office manager at their firm complained to legal ethics authorities.
Among other issues, Jessica Cain and Kevin Kinney have been accused by Oregon State Bar of charging excessive fees and continuing to represent that former associates were still with the law firm after they had moved on to other ventures, reports the Newberg Graphic.
Both also face tax-related ethics charges, and Cain is accused of misrepresenting on a personal tax return that her nanny was a law firm employee.
The partners deny any wrongdoing. They purchased the practice in 2006 from Michael Gunn, who currently has no role in the law firm.
