Laid-Off Cadwalader Associate Creates Partner Rating Website
An associate laid off last year by Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft has started a website that allows users to anonymously critique partners at large law firms.
The new site is Rate a Partner and its creator is Sam Smith, the American Lawyer reports. Launched last week, it offers a five-star rating system for partners and allows user comments.
“I’m a laid-off lawyer, so I have a lot of time on my hands,” Smith allowed in an interview with the publication, when asked to explain why he started the website. “I always thought there should be an upward review process for partners, because big law firms are always doing review process for associates, so there’s not a lot of this upward review. And so basically what Rate a Partner does is it takes the conversation to the next level.”
Smith said one partner whose name is getting searched quite a bit is former Cadwalader managing partner Robert Link. He is still unrated, though.
