LA City Attorney on Hot Seat
The Los Angeles city attorney and his wife are taking a drubbing in the press for driving-related infractions.
The wife of City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo has an outstanding warrant for her arrest for failing to appear in court on driving related charges, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Michelle Delgadillo was accused of driving without insurance, with a suspended license and in an unregistered car, the newspaper says. She also was late in paying at least five parking tickets.
At a news conference on Monday, Rocky Delgadillo admitted he had allowed his wife to drive his city-owned vehicle for personal errands while her license was suspended. Michelle Delgadillo got into an accident with the vehicle.
Rocky Delgadillo told reporters he will reimburse the city for the cost of repairs. He also acknowledged he had driven without insurance for about a year and his wife had done the same for more than two years.
Michelle Delgadillo pledged to remedy the warrant problem and apologized for any embarrassment she caused her husband.
