Kasowitz opens new Calif. office with two Jenner insurance recovery partners
Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman has opened a new office in Century City, Calif., with two partners from Jenner & Block.
They are Jerold Oshinsky and Linda Kornfeld. Both represent businesses and university policyholders in insurance coverage disputes with their carriers, and Oshinsky had co-chaired the practice group at Jenner. The two began work Monday at what is now the New York-based litigation firm’s third office in the Golden State and eighth nationally, Reuters reports.
Kornfeld, who will be the partner in charge of the Century City office, says it has room for up to 10 lawyers and she expects to seek practitioners with intellectual property and general litigation expertise.
“Jerry and Linda are as good as it gets, and teaming them with our already formidable insurance recovery attorneys creates the elite insurance group in the country,” said managing partner Marc Kasowitz in a law firm press release.
The two represent Pennsylvania State University in a coverage suit against its insurer over claims related to the sexual misconduct of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
Jenner’s managing partner, Susan Levy, said in a written statement provided to Reuters that she wishes the two former partners well.
