Kahn Kleinman Joining Taft Stettinius, Cleveland Office to Grow to 70
Continuing its merger-fueled growth spurt, a large midwestern law firm is about to become bigger, almost doubling the size of its Cleveland office via a combination with Kahn Kleinman.
The merger, which is to take place Sept. 1, will give Taft Stettinius & Hollister an attorney roster of more than 400, the firm says in a press release today. The firm also recently opened offices in Phoenix and Beijing.
The Kahn firm, which is known for its commercial real estate expertise, has 30 lawyers in Cleveland.
“The merger comes on the heels of Taft’s merger with the former Sommer Barnard firm in Indianapolis in May,” notes the Cleveland Plain Dealer. That earlier merger is also discussed in a previous ABAJournal.com post.
Stephen O’Bryan, the partner in charge of Taft’s Cleveland office, says the firm had wanted for some time to amp up its real estate, employment and intellectual property practices there, and saw Kahn Kleinman as the perfect partner for that purpose. “We’re just pleased as punch that we were able to put this together,” he tells the newspaper.
Says Kevin Barnes, a Kahn partner on his firm’s executive committee, “Our clients just needed more services and more depth, so we felt that we wanted to be partnered up with someone that would give us this opportunity.”
