Unconfirmed reports that Justin Bieber had been spotted at nightclubs in South Florida earlier this week apparently may have been correct.

The 19-year-old pop star was arrested early Thursday, along with R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff, also 19, and charged with drag-racing and driving under the influence. Police say Bieber was speeding on a Miami Beach street in a rented yellow Lamborghini without a valid driver’s license, according to CBS News and the New York Daily News. His co-defendant was driving a a rented red Ferrari.

Both men were jailed, pending court appearances later today in Miami Dade Circuit Court.

Bieber, who is represented by attorneys Roy Black and Mark Shapiro, also was charged resisting arrest, the Miami Herald reports. A police report said he was incoherent, babbling, dropped the F-bomb repeatedly, initially refused to get out of his vehicle and then kept putting his hands in his pockets.

It was reportedly his first arrest.

The articles don’t include any comment from the defendants or their legal counsel.
