Virginia Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, hasn’t given up her role in politics after relinquishing control of a group she founded in 2009 for “citizen activists.”

Now Virginia Thomas has formed a political consulting business to help advocate for “liberty-loving citizens” who believe in limited government, free enterprise, national security, individual liberty and personal responsibility, according to the website for the new business, Liberty Consulting Inc. The New York Times has the story.

The newspaper talked to legal ethics experts who said Virginia Thomas’ new business could raise recusal issues. Hofstra law professor Monroe Freedman told the newspaper that Justice Thomas “should not be sitting on a case or reviewing a statute that his wife has lobbied for.”
