Judge Ito Hoax Fools TMZ
TMZ.com, the Web site known for its celebrity reporting coups, had egg on its face after it learned a video it posted of “Judge Lance Ito” featured an imposter.
The person in the video, thought to be the judge who presided over the 1995 murder trial of O.J. Simpson, opined that this time the football great was “guilty of sin.”
The Los Angeles County Superior Court informed the Web site that the person in the video was not Judge Ito, the Los Angeles Times reports.
“The video does not depict Judge Ito. He is not in the video, and he did not, and has not, commented in any way to TMZ.com—or any other media organization—about the Las Vegas case or any other matter relating to O.J. Simpson—past or present,” the court said in a statement.
The Web site removed the video and apologized for “a stupid mistake.”
