A federal bankruptcy judge has ordered an audit of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego.

Judge Louise DeCarl Adler wants to know if the diocese transferred funds to new accounts after filing for bankruptcy, the Associated Press reports.

The church is the fifth in the U.S. to file for Chapter 11 protection in the midst of suits charging sexual abuse by priests.

Adler had earlier threatened an attorney with contempt for helping with the transfers. A blog post here explains.
