Judge Decries "Media Frenzy" in Astronaut Case
The Florida judge overseeing the trial of fired astronaut Lisa Marie Nowak wants lawyers for both sides to limit their contact with the media.
“I’m just trying to keep the media frenzy down to a dull roar,” Orange County Circuit Judge Marc L. Lubet said at a hearing this morning, according to the Associated Press.
Lubet said the lawyers are not allowed to issue any “press releases,” and he temporarily sealed court documents that were to be released soon. He indicated the trial, scheduled to begin in July, will likely start in September.
Nowak drove from Houston to Florida in diapers on February 5 to confront Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman, who was dating Nowak’s former boyfriend, astronaut Bill Oefelein, according to prosecutors.
