Jones Day has announced plans to open an office in Amsterdam next year.

It will be headed by Luc Houben, who previously led the Brussels office of the 1,750-attorney law firm, according to Legal Week and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

A law firm press release gives further details.

Earlier this year, the firm opened its third office in Germany. It traces its roots to the 1893 creation of a small firm in Cleveland, which now, more than a century later, has offices in nearly three dozen locations worldwide.

“The Netherlands is a leading and internationally important business and legal market with close ties to the United States,” says the firm’s managing partner, Steve Brogan, in the press release. “The opening of our Amsterdam office, together with the recent addition of our Düsseldorf office, is a demonstration of Jones Day’s confidence in and commitment to the future of the European Union, which remains the largest economy in the world.”
