Jenner & Block to Close Dallas Office
Jenner & Block has decided to close its four-lawyer Dallas office rather than renew its lease.
The office opened in 2000 to house lawyers hired from McKenna & Cuneo who didn’t want to move, said Jenner’s managing partner Gregory Gallopoulos.
Two government contracts lawyers there, William Stoughton and Kathy Weinberg, will move to the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, the National Law Journal reports. An associate and lawyer with of counsel status will leave the firm.
Legal recruiter Mark Jungers of Major, Lindsey & Africa told the NLJ that most firms opening new offices expect them to expand. “For whatever reason, they didn’t grow, and now that has got to be a real tall hurdle,” he said.
The firm cut costs earlier this year by shifting up to 20 partners from equity to nonequity status.
