A money manager is threatening to file a grievance against a Connecticut lawyer he accuses of keeping a misdelivered FedEx shipment of eight bottles of wine worth $180.

The Connecticut Law Tribune begins its story on the incident this way: “Call it the Cabernet Caper. Or Whining About Wine.”

The lawyer, David Mester, practices at Mester, Grabow & Miller, a firm that focuses on Social Security and disability law, the Connecticut Law Tribune reports. John Porriello, a wealth manager at Lifeline Financial in Hartford, says he bought eight bottles of cabernet sauvignon because he remodeled his house and wanted to do more entertaining. The shipment never arrived.

Porriello filed a police report claiming Mester refused to return the misdelivered packages when contacted by FedEx, the story says. He also sent an e-mail to several members of the Connecticut legal community complaining about Mester.

Porriello later told the Law Tribune that FedEx “has straightened the whole thing out” and, “This can be made whole.”

Mester was in court this morning and was not available for immediate comment.
