Nearly 20 lawyers were laid off last month at Husch Blackwell, the law firm has confirmed to the Am Law Daily.

“As is our firm’s practice, we constantly monitor our attorney staffing to match the level of experience, expertise and depth necessary to service our clients’ workload needs,” a firm spokeswoman says in an e-mail to the legal publication. “At times, that includes adding lawyers and sometimes reducing our ranks.”

Above the Law initially broke the story earlier this month.

The firm also laid off about 17 lawyers and 45 staff some 18 months ago, in the midst of similar “March mayhem” among a number of well-known law firms.
