The total number of lawyers joining Polsinelli from Holland & Knight is 47, including 35 lawyers who are establishing a Philadelphia office for their new law firm.
Polsinelli is taking 30 partners, one counsel and 16 associates, according to an Aug. 8 press release. The announcement provides exact numbers on the lateral moves after Polsinelli released a lower initial count last month.
Law360, Reuters and Law.com are among the publications covering the announcement.
Holland & Knight lost almost half of its lawyers in Philadelphia as a result of the moves, according to Reuters.
But Holland & Knight said nearly 40 attorneys remain in its Philadelphia office, and they have extensive experience in a wide range of practice areas, according to a statement published by Law.com. The firm said it will “continue to invest in and grow our Philadelphia office.”
The partner acquisition will create one of the premier practices for executive compensation and employee stock ownership plans in the country, Polsinelli said.
Besides staffing the Philadelphia office, the new lawyers will be joining Polsinelli offices in Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, New York, Denver and Dallas.
Reuters called the lateral hires “one of the biggest mass law firm hires of the year.” About 50 lawyers moved from Moye White to join Fennemore Craig in April. Also in April, 17 lawyers left Munger, Tolles & Olson to join Baker McKenzie.
Law.com compared the move to Paul Hastings’ hiring of 43 restructuring lawyers from now-defunct firm Stroock & Stroock & Lavan two years ago.
