'Hedge Fund Wives' Sparks Sisters' Copyright Spat
A society wife and her sister are gearing up for a court battle over who actually wrote the upcoming book, Hedge Fund Wives.
Tatiana Boncompagni Hoover, a published author who is married to an heir to the vacuum cleaner fortune, says she did. But her sister, Natasha, who lives in Wisconsin with her parents and grandmother, is claiming co-authorship, reports the Wall Street Journal Law Blog.
So lawyers for Tatiana Hoover filed suit today in federal court in the Southern District of New York seeking to extinguish her sister’s claims, recounts Law Blog, which provides a copy of the lawsuit (PDF).
She says her sister downloaded portions of the novel from her personal computer while visiting her home in New York. However, Natasha Boncompagni contends that it is Tatiana Hoover who is trying to steal her thunder.
The society sister is represented by Alan Fisch, Joseph Drayton and Lisa Katz of Kaye Scholer. She is seeking an injunction declaring her to be the sole author of Hedge Fund Wives, as well as compensatory and punitive damages and attorney’s fees.
The post doesn’t say whether Natasha Boncompagni has a lawyer.
