A growing Atlantic and Northeast regional law firm is expanding the attorney roster at its New York office by more than 50 percent with the acquisition of a 14-lawyer boutique there.

Based in Richmond, Va., LeClairRyan will have about 350 lawyers on its roster and 40 in its New York office once it acquires Biedermann Reif Hoenig & Ruff, the Am Law Daily reports. In addition to 19 offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C., LeClairRyan also has offices in Detroit, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The Biedermann firm, which focuses its practice on advising clients in the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland, will be “a portal to European clients with operations in the United States,” predicts Gary LeClair, who serves as LeClairRyan chairman.

“The addition of these exceptionally talented attorneys will further enhance our already nationally established litigation practice teams and provide our clients with access to a greater depth of legal and business counsel services,” he says in a law firm press release. “This is an excellent opportunity for our clients and for us to continue providing the type of representation that will enhance their businesses.”
