Gore’s Son Pleads Guilty
Al Gore’s son has pleaded guilty to drug charges and will enter rehab.
Albert Gore III appeared in an Orange County courtroom today, where he pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana and prescription drugs, the Associated Press reports. Charges could eventually be dropped if he successfully completes rehab and meets the requirements of a diversion program.
Prosecutors say police found Vicodin and other medications in Gore’s car when he was pulled over on July 4, even though he did not have a prescription. They also say the search also turned up less than an ounce of marijuana.
A spokeswoman for the district attorney told People magazine that Gore got no special treatment.
“This is what anyone coming off the street would be eligible for,” said spokeswoman Susan Kang-Schroeder. “Gore didn’t get any more or any less than anyone else.”
