‘Gone Wild’ Creator Gone to Jail
The maker of the Girls Gone Wild videos is in jail on a charge of criminal contempt of court, the Associated Press reports.
Joe Francis was arrested at the Panama City Bay County International Airport in Florida and ordered held without bail yesterday.
U.S. District Judge Richard Smoak had issued a contempt warrant last Thursday in a lawsuit filed by seven women who say they were underage when they appeared in the Girls Gone Wild videos.
The plaintiffs’ lawyers claimed Francis shouted obscenities during settlement talks and threatened to “bury them.” Smoak had ordered Francis to settle the case or go to jail before settlement talks broke down.
