As Arlington, Ohio-based lawyers Brad Koffel and Mark Jump are severing their 16-year legal partnership, the duo is excited to shift the focus back to a 24-year-old friendship founded in a dorm at Miami University.

Although they remain best friends, divergent legal practices added to the wisdom of the split. Jump is a criminal defense attorney, while Koffel represents individuals, families and small businesses in bankruptcies, property foreclosures and mortgage mediation, reports the Columbus Business First. Both lawyers maintained separate legal and administrative staff at the 10-attorney firm.

Koffel told the newspaper that it will be nice to focus more on that friendship without business getting in the way.

Their story makes us wonder: Have you or would you ever go into practice with a friend?
