Former Solicitor General Will Rejoin King & Spalding
Former Solicitor General Paul Clement is heading back to his former law firm.
King & Spalding announced in a press release that Clement will rejoin the firm’s Washington, D.C., office to establish an expanded national appellate practice and a strategic counseling practice. The well-respected Clement served seven years as solicitor general and has argued 49 cases before the Supreme Court.
Clement resigned from his Justice Department post on June 2 and spent the summer teaching at Georgetown law school. He said at the time he eventually hoped to land a job at a private law firm where he can argue cases once again at the Supreme Court.
Some have speculated Clement could earn as much as $2 million or $3 million a year in private practice.
