Firm Takes Client Entertainment Cue from Boston Legal
When you try to picture the new rooftop deck at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough’s Atlanta office, think Boston. More specifically, Boston Legal, the hit ABC drama featuring William Shatner as Denny Crane and David Spader as Alan Shore.
At the end of each episode, the pair sits on their law office terrace, smoking cigars and nursing drinks.
Nelson Mullins wanted a piece of that, at least the drama of the cityscape to impress clients and woo prospective clients, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
With the help of an architectural firm Nelson Mullins got its wish. The 18th-floor conference room of the new Atlantic Station building at 201 17th St. opens to a roof garden, according to a release about the firm’s move to the new space.
But while the idea of a terrace space may have originated on TV, the reality version is vast—covering more than 4,000 square feet, with a $10,000 infrared grill at one end and a “pouring station” at the other.
As for whether the firm’s 84 attorneys and clients will unwind with cigars in the evenings. The answer is probably no. It’s a nonsmoking building.
