Firm Acquires Investment Practice
Philadelphia law firm Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads has acquired a three-lawyer investment management practice.
Laura Anne Corsell established the boutique firm in 1994 and will head the investment group at Montgomery McCracken, according to a press release. She regularly counsels investment advisers and independent fund directors about regulatory, governance and compliance matters.
Corsell told the Legal Intelligencer she had turned down other big firms and spent about nine months considering Montgomery McCracken’s offer. She says the firm will provide her the flexibility needed for her practice.
“While it is in a growth mode, I don’t think that it wants to behave ever like a megafirm,” she said.
Corsell also said the firm’s Delaware office was a factor in her decision, since that state’s law is favorable for regulated investment companies.
