Updated: The FBI has joined an ongoing search for a Savannah, Ga., attorney and her husband, a businessman. Both haven’t been seen since Monday and, uncharacteristically, have had their cell phones and BlackBerries turned off all week.

Authorities began looking for Elizabeth Calvert after she failed to show up at a scheduled meeting Tuesday at her Savannah law office, and her brother reported her missing. So far, they have been unable to locate either the 45-year-old tax attorney or her husband, John, 47. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that their Mercedes has been found 4 miles from their Hilton Head Island, S.C., yacht home.

Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner told the Island Packet in Hilton Head that he considers the couple’s disappearance “suspicious,” the newspaper notes, and deputies say they have not ruled out foul play, according to a local NBC News affiliate. It also reports that the FBI has now joined the search for the couple.

“This is so unlike Liz and John to be out of touch with business colleagues and friends,” says attorney Sally Nielsen, who works with Elizabeth Calvert at Hunter Maclean in Savannah, in a written statement released yesterday. “We are most concerned for their safety.”

Updated at 2:25 p.m. to indicate that the Calverts’ car has been found.
