Ex-Holland & Knight Partner Gets 90-Day Suspension for False Billing
Former Holland & Knight partner Edward F. Ryan will face a 90-day suspension for overbilling. The Illinois Supreme Court adopted the proposed suspension by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission last week, reports the Legal Profession Blog.
The action stems from a complaint filed against Ryan in 2008 for allegedly falsifying billing invoices to Pinnade Corp. for representation in a copyright infringement case. The commission’s complaint did not specify the overcharged amount, the Legal Profession Blog notes.
Ryan’s consent to the suspension ends the matter and any possible disbarment over the issue, according to the blog post.
