Ex-Fla. Gov. Accuses Dem Hopeful of Trademark Infringement
Lawyers for former Republican Florida Gov. Jeb Bush have accused Democratic state senate hopeful Deborah Gianoulis of trademark infringement.
At issue is the Democratic candidate’s use of a red Deb! logo with white lettering, which lawyers for Bush contend is too similar to the ex-governor’s trademarked Jeb! logo.
Bush’s lawyers have sent Gianoulis a letter demanding that she cease using the logo, according to an Associated Press report Wednesday.
Gianoulis spokesman John Daigle said the issue is moot. The campaign, which distributed a few Deb! lapel stickers last June, hasn’t used the logo since a television ad featuring it went off the air last month.
Gianoulis, a former TV anchor, is trying to unseat St. Augustine Sen. John Thrasher, who happens to be chairman of the Florida Republican Party.
