Escaped Juvenile Found Hiding in Judge’s Trunk
A juvenile offender in Michigan who pried off a metal panel and escaped from his courthouse holding cell was found about an hour later hiding in the trunk of a judge’s car.
A security officer became suspicious when he saw a picture on the ground next to the 2002 Lincoln Continental owned by Judge Peter Maceroni, the Macomb Daily reports. A deputy investigated and found the 16-year-old boy in the trunk.
Maceroni, a judge in Mount Clemens, told the newspaper the youth must have opened the trunk from a button in his unlocked car. “I’ve been around here for the past 18 years and have never locked my car because it’s parked in a secured area,” Maceroni told the Macomb Daily. “I will lock it from now on.”
