Eliot Spitzer Has a New Job on CNN
A prostitution scandal hasn’t totally derailed the career of Eliot Spitzer, New York’s former attorney general and governor.
This fall, Spitzer will co-host a new hour-long primetime news program on CNN that will take the form of a “roundtable discussion,” the network’s Political Ticker blog reports. The other host is Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Kathleen Parker.
Lanny Davis, a former special counsel to President Clinton, told the New York Observer’s Media Mob blog that Spitzer could have good ratings because people will be fascinated by him. “This is about someone who’s willing to bounce back,” Davis said. “It’s part of an American narrative that goes all the way back in history. We love Horatio Alger. We love forgiving.”
Media Mob notes that scandal seems to be a starting point for would-be media pundits. “Call it Spitz-o-phrenia,” the blog says.
